BLACKSBURG, Va. - The App State women's track and field team rounded out the first day of competition at Virginia Tech's Doc Hale Invitational with six top-10 finishes on Friday.
Sophomore
Kendall Johnson advanced to the women's 60-meter finals after finishing fifth in the prelims with a personal best of 7.52, which moved her to fourth in the App State all-time list. She finished eighth in the final with a time of 7.57.
Senior
Karsyn Kane stopped the clock at 10:10.17 for a personal best and sixth-place finish in the women's 3,000 meters. Freshman
Breanna Budzinski finished ninth (10:22.16), senior
Lana Farris took 10th (10:30.93), and senior
Catherine Breault took 11th (10:38.29).
In the bronze section of the women's mile, graduate student
Lauren Johnston clocked a season best of 4:50.97 to finish ninth, which moved her to third in the App State all-time list. Senior
Emma Russum placed seventh in the women's mile after clocking a personal best of 4:59.51.
In the women's 800 meters, junior
Addison Ollendick-Smith clocked a personal best of 2:12.37 to finish 11th. She remains fifth in the program all-time list. Freshman
Jahaila Wright landed 11th in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.48m (17' 11.75").
Competition resumes on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the multis. Field events will start at 11 a.m. and track events are slated for 2 p.m.
