Wood Caps Career with Third Straight Sun Belt All-Conference Honor

NEW ORLEANS – App State Soccer forward Izzi Wood was named an All-Sun Belt selection for the third consecutive season, garnering third-team recognition in 2025, the league announced Sunday.

Wood is the first player in program history to be named to three postseason all-conference teams and is one of just 40 players in the 26-year history of Sun Belt women's soccer to be selected to three or more postseason all-conference teams.

The Hickory, N.C., native scored five goals and added two assists during the regular season, including three game-winning tallies. She ranked among the league leaders in shots (7th – 41), shots on goal (10th – 17) and game-winning goals (T-4th – 3).

In the penultimate game of her career, Wood netted her 31st career goal, setting the App State scoring record by eclipsing Casey Cleary's mark that had stood since 2008. Wood also holds the program record for career shots (264) and ranks second all-time in career points (70) and career games played (87). Wood is the only player in the Sun Belt Conference to have scored at least five goals in each of the past four seasons.

Wood was named a second-team All-Sun Belt selection in 2023 and earned first-team honors in 2024, becoming the first App State player since 2018 to be named first-team all-conference. She also garnered All-Southeast Region honors each of the past two seasons.

Since first joining the Mountaineers in 2020, Wood has been integral in elevating App State soccer. Despite missing the 2021 season due to injury, Wood returned to the lineup in 2022 and helped the Mountaineers to a seventh-place finish, despite the team being picked 13th out of 14 teams in the preseason poll. She paced the Black and Gold in 2023, when the team finished the year in third place, its best conference finish in program history. After matching the program's single-season record with 11 goals in 2024, Wood returned to Boone for her final season of eligibility in 2025 and helped lead the team to a signature victory over Miami, the program's first win against an ACC opponent.
