CLEMSON, S.C. - A pair of new App State program records highlighted the Mountaineers' first day of competition at Clemson's Orange and Purple Invitational on Friday. In addition to the pair of new program records, the Black and Gold totaled 17 top-15 finishes on the day.
Junior
Addison Ollendick-Smith reset her own App State program record in the women's 600 meters with a personal best time of 1:33.95. She placed second overall in Friday's event. Her previous personal best and program record was 1:37.9, set in 2023. Freshman
Savannah Moore placed eighth (1:36.45), senior
Regan Hodge placed 12th (1:40.09, PR), sophomore
Rhys Ammon placed 13th (1:40.28), and freshman
Ella Battel finished 15th (1:41.04) in the event.
Graduate student
Lauren Johnston clocked a new App State program record in the women's 1,000 meters with a time of 2:52.76. The previous record was 2:57.74, set in 2002 by Katie Sujkowski. Johnston finished third overall in the event.
Senior
Emma Russum clinched first in the women's 5,000 meters with a personal best time of 17:00.66. She rose to third in the App State all-time list. Additionally, sophomore
Mary Biagini finished sixth in the women's 5,000 meters with a time of 18:34.31.
In the invitational section of the women's pole vault, freshman
Lilly Nichols finished ninth with a clearance of 3.87m (12' 8.25") and junior
Ava Studney tied for 11th with a clearance of 3.72m (12' 2.5"). Graduate student

Abigail Goetz recorded top-10 finishes in the women's pole vault. Meeker placed fourth with a clearance of 3.72m (12' 2.5"). Fowlkes recorded a personal best clearance of 3.57m (11' 8.5") to tie for sixth, while Goetz tied for eighth with a clearance of 3.42m (11' 2.5").
Senior
Jasmine Donohue clocked a personal best of 4:50.68 to place 12th in the women's mile. With her new personal best, she rose to second in the program all-time list.
In the women's weight throw, sophomore
Dianna Boykin and freshman
Emily Edwards rounded out the top-15 with personal bests of 14.10m (46' 3.25") and 14.09m (46' 2.75"), respectively.
Freshman
Ja'Naya Linder stopped the clock at 56.80 to finish 16th in the women's 400 meters. Her time moved her time to ninth in the program all-time list. Sophomore
Kendall Johnson clocked a time of 7.58 in the women's 60-meter prelims and finished 16th overall in the 60-meter semifinals with a time of 7.59.
Competition at the Orange and Purple Invitational will resume at 9 a.m. on Saturday with the continuation of the multis. Field events are slated to start at 10 a.m. and track events are set to start at 11 a.m.
