MADISON, Miss. – The Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship begins Monday and runs through Thursday at The Annandale Golf Club outside of Jackson in central Mississippi.
Entering the event, App State's season-long team scoring average of 290.5 ranks eighth in the 14-team field, with the teams in the 6-12 range all averaging between 289.2 and 291.9 strokes. The field includes seven schools with a first-place team finish this year and four more with a runner-up finish
App State's five-player lineup for Monday's opening round (with the top four scores counting toward the team score) will consist of
Addison Beam,
Herman Huus,
Sverrir Haraldsson,
Colin Browning and
Alex Martin.
Aidan Browning has also traveled and could be inserted into the lineup for the second or third rounds of stroke play.
Beam ranks eighth in the league with a season average of 71.73 strokes per round. He is one of seven Sun Belt golfers with an individual victory this season.
Beam, Huus, Haraldsson and
Colin Browning are back at Annandale after representing the Mountaineers at last year's Sun Belt Championship, with Huus tying for 37th place.
All four days of the championship will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with live results on
Golfstat.
The tournament features three rounds of stroke play from Monday through Wednesday on the par-72, 7,190-yard layout. Following 54 holes of stroke play, top four teams will advance to match play semifinals Thursday morning. The championship match will follow the conclusion of the semifinal matches.
Georgia Southern (No. 82) and Texas State (No. 96) are each listed among the Top 100 teams nationally in the latest SCOREBOARD NCAA Division I Men's Golf Rankings. Louisiana is the event's reigning champion, having won the 2023 Sun Belt Men's Golf Championship with a 3-2-0 victory over Georgia Southern in the championship match.
The 2024 spring season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
