Tennis Concludes Road Schedule Against Thundering Herd

HUNTINGTON, W. VA. - App State Tennis will travel to West Virginia this weekend to face Marshall, which is currently in second place in the Sun Belt Conference standings ahead of Saturday's matchup. The Mountaineers look to end the regular season on a high note, with their last two matches against the first- and second-place teams in the league.

On the Mountaineers
App State comes into its last road contest after going 1-1 last weekend. The Mountaineers currently rank seventh in the conference standings. App State is led by sophomore Savannah Dada-Mascoll, who has won 15 straight singles matches and is unbeaten in conference play this season at 8-0. Graduate student Maggie Pate has the second-most singles wins (12) for App State and has garnered wins from the No. 1 to No. 4 spots. 
 
On the Thundering Herd
Marshall has six players with double-digit wins this season. Johanna Storm and Doroteja Joksovic lead The Herd with 14 wins apiece this season. Marshall has one player with 13 wins, two with 12 and one with 10. 
 
Last Meeting
App State hosted Marshall in Boone last season on its Senior Day. In a once-in-a-lifetime event, starting the match outside and having to endure multiple rain delays, only to have the tied match conclude indoors, the Mountaineers prevailed 4-3. Dada-Mascoll put the finishing touches on the victory as she defeated Emma Vanderheyden 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 on Court 2. 
 
Up Next
The Mountaineers will host Sun Belt leader Old Dominion on Saturday, April 20. The Monarchs are a perfect 7-0 atop the conference standings. The match is set for a 10 a.m. start time, and live stats will be provided via appstatesports.com.
