NEW ORLEANS — App State Tennis phenom Savannah Dada-Mascoll, ranked No. 9 nationally, has been named the Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the Week in singles, marking the third time this season she has earned the honor, the conference announced Thursday.
Her three Sun Belt weekly awards in singles match Sasha Pisareva (2020) for the most in a single season in program history. Dada-Mascoll also received a doubles honor Feb. 26 alongside Taya Powell, bringing her total to four weekly awards, the most in a single season in program history.
Sitting at 16-1, Dada-Mascoll is riding a career-best-tying 16-match winning streak, with her only loss coming in the season opener against then-No. 23 Ange Oby Kajuru (now ranked No. 8). She hasn't dropped a set since Feb. 28 against UT Arlington and has won 18 consecutive sets.
The recognition follows an undefeated weekend in which Dada-Mascoll defeated both opponents in straight sets. She added to her decorated resume with another ranked victory, taking down No. 102 Kira Matushkina of then-No. 62 Old Dominion, 7-6 (7-5), 7-5. She continued that momentum in a No. 1 matchup against East Carolina, dropping only one game and blanking her opponent in a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win.
The Mountaineers look to carry this momentum into the weekend, starting with a Friday match against Georgia Southern followed by a Saturday showdown with Coastal Carolina. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
The 2025-26 season is presented by Hound Ears Club.
