BLACKSBURG, Va. – The App State Mountaineers (2-1) are set to begin a four-match road trip starting in Blacksburg, Va., where they will face Virginia Tech (3-2). The Mountaineers look to win their third match in a row and on the season against an ACC foe who is 2-1 at home so far this season.
On the Mountaineers
App State won its first two games at home last weekend. The Mountaineers defeated Queens 6-1 on Feb. 3, marking head coach Hannah Fetters' first win with App State and Lees-McRae on Feb. 4. Graduate
Maggie Pate looks to continue her undefeated season as she is currently 6-0 on the season, 3-0 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles play. Pate along with freshman
Taya Powell are the only two Mountaineers who are unbeaten this season. The Aussie is 2-0 on both the singles and doubles court this season. Freshman
Naledi Manyube also won her first matches as a Mountaineers this past weekend. The South African won two singles matches while also picking up her first doubles win, pairing with sophomore
Savannah Dada-Mascoll.
On the Hokies
Virginia Tech returns home after losing to fellow Sun Belt Conference member Marshall 4-3 in Huntington, W. Va. The Hokies have four players with at least three singles wins on the young season. Katie Andreini has the best singles record for Virginia Tech, boasting a 4-1 singles record while also being unbeaten in doubles play with her partner Dariya Radulova. Radulova has a 3-2 singles record so far in the 2024 season. Other notable players for the Hokies are Laima Frosh and Tamara Barad Itzahki awho re 3-1 and 3-0 respectively this season.

App State will continue its road trip down in Boiling Springs to face Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Feb 18. The Mountaineers will then travel to ETSU on Feb. 20 and Elon on Feb. 25 before returning home on March 1 to face Duquesne.
