BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The App State women's track and field team closed out the first day of competition at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships with a podium finish in the women's distance medley relay, a top-five finish in the women's long jump, and three Mountaineers advancing to Tuesday's finals.
Competition on Tuesday continues at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) with the multi-events. Tuesday's action will also be on ESPN+.
The highlight of Monday's action was App State's podium finish in the women's distance medley relay. The quartet of freshmen

Addison Ollendick-Smith, and senior
Jasmine Donohue stopped the clock at 11:47.73 for a second-place finish.
Graduate student
Ashlee Osaji rounded out the top-five in the women's long jump with a leap of 5.93m (19' 5.5"). Junior
Daiyanna Cooper placed ninth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 17.70m (58' 1"). Cooper's toss ties LaShanna Poole's 2003 mark, for eighth in the App State all-time list. In the women's 5,000 meters junior
Catherine Breault posted a personal best of 17:51.77.

Freshman
Jayla Adams and senior
Taylor Smith advanced to the 60-meter finals after finishing sixth (7.54, PR) and seventh (7.55), respectively, in the prelims. Adams also qualified for the women's 200-meter finals after finishing fifth with a time of 24.22 in the prelims. Advancing to the women's 800-meter finals is Ollendick-Smith, who clocked a personal best of 2:13.76 to finish second in the prelim.
