BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's track & field team is headed to Birmingham, Ala. for the Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 19-20. Competition on both Monday and Tuesday are slated for 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) starts with the multi-events. Both days will also be available to stream on ESPN+.
Last Time Out
App State rounded out the indoor regular season at the VMI Winter Classic on Feb. 9-10 with 24 top-five finishes. Sophomore
Ava Studney clinched first and matched App State's indoor women's pole vault record with a clearance of 4.06m (13' 3.75"). Graduate Students
Celia Agee and
Noelle Meeker took second (3.60m (11' 9.75")) and third (3.45m (11' 3.75")), respectively.
On the track, graduate student
Alexia Moehling clinched first in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.80, while freshman
Nicole Wells posted a personal best of 39.05 for a first-place finish in the women's 300 meters. Senior
Jasmine Donohue stopped the clock at 2:16.56 for a first-place finish in the women's 800 meters, while junior
Catherine Breault recorded a personal best of 18.08.41 to finish first in the women's 5,000 meters.
Last Time at the SBC Indoor Championships
Last season's Sun Belt Indoor Championships were highlighted by two broken program records and a first-place performance in the women's triple jump. The 4x400-meter relay team of
Jelonnie Smith,
Jada Branch,
Hunter Robinson, and
Mariah Atwater set a program record of 3:43.42, finishing fourth in the race. The quartet had set the previous record of 3:46.87 at the 2023 VMI Winter Classic. Atwater also set the program record for the women's 400 meters with a time of 55.24, edging past the previous record of 55.25 which was set in 2020. Branch garnered gold in the women's triple jump with a leap of 12.85m (42' 2"), which moved her to third in the App State all-time list. The Mountaineers finished 11th in the team standings with 29.5 points.

Studney continues to lead the Sun Belt in the pole vault category. Graduate student
Ashlee Osaji checks in at third in the women's triple jump category, while Donohue rounds out the top-five in the women's 3,000 meters and women's 5,000 meters. App State's 4x400-meter relay team of Wells, freshmen
Jayla Adams and
Sierra Smith, and sophomore
Daye Talley rounds out the top-five in the league.
In the Southeast Region, Osaji ranks 11th in the women's triple jump. The quartet of Wells, Adams,
Sierra Smith, and Talley rank 15th in the women's 4x400-meter relay, while Studney ranks 16th in the women's pole vault. Senior
Taylor Smith stands 21st in the women's 60 meters.
In the NCAA, Osaji ranks 76th in the women's triple jump and Studney ranks 77th in the women's pole vault.

The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships are slated for March 8-9 in Boston, Mass. The top-16 athletes in each event will advance to the championships. On March 6, the final championships start lists will be posted on NCAA.org.
The App State men's and women's track team will open the outdoor track & field season on March 15-16 in Hickory, N.C. at the Lenoir-Rhyne Open.
