Men's Golf Announces Complete 2023-24 Schedule

BOONE, N.C. – App State Men's Golf will compete in plenty of strong fields and play many highly regarded courses during a 2023-24 schedule that includes eight tournaments in the Carolinas, plus trips to San Francisco, Philadelphia and Florida.

The second fall season under the direction of head coach Alan Cress unofficially began with an Aug. 25 visit to Stonewall in Elverson, Pa., just outside of Philadelphia, and continues with the River Run Collegiate from Sept. 11-12 (this Monday-Tuesday) at River Run Country Club in Davidson.

That's the first of three September events, followed by the VCU Shootout (Sept. 18-19 in Richmond, Va.) and the J.T. Poston Invitational (Sept. 25-26 in Sapphire, hosted by Western Carolina). The in-state run continues with the Ironwood Collegiate Classic (Oct. 2-3 in Greenville, hosted by ECU) and the Phoenix Invitational (Oct. 16-17 in Burlington, hosted by Elon).

The Mountaineers' first trip of the spring features another visit to Golden Ocala in Florida.

After the 2024 trip to Florida, App State plays in Hilton Head Island, S.C., at the Wexford Intercollegiate from Feb. 19-20. App State individuals will then compete in Raleigh at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course on Feb. 24 before the Mountaineers enter a highly anticipated stretch in which they host the Bash at the Beach, travel to California and return home to host another event at The Club at Irish Creek.

After hosting the Bash at the Beach in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. from March 11-12, App State will fly west to compete in The Goodwin, a tournament hosted by Stanford at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.

TPC Harding Park was home to the 2020 PGA Championship, the first major victory for Collin Morikawa. Tiger Woods beat John Daly in a playoff to win the 2005 WGC-American Express Championship at the same course, and Rory McIlroy won the 2015 WGC-Cadillac Match Play there.

The Goodwin tournament runs from March 28-30, and App State will come back to North Carolina to then host the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis from April 8-9.

App State returns nine golfers and welcomes three newcomers in advance of a 2023-24 schedule with 14 competition dates, culminating with the Sun Belt Championship from April 22-25 at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.
