App State fell to conference leader James Madison on Wednesday, 78-62, in its penultimate home game. Sanders, sophomore
Emily Carver and freshman Chaé Harris each scored double digits. Harris also pulled down a team-high six rebounds while junior
Faith Alston dished out a team-high five assists. The Mountaineers shot 73.3 percent from the line and scored 26 points off the bench.
App State is one 3-pointer away from tying the program record for made 3-pointers made in a season. The Mountaineers have a total of 214 made 3-pointers this season. The program record, set during the 2018-19 season, is 215.
Around the Conference
Carver maintains her spot as the Sun Belt's leader in 3-point percentage and made 3-pointers per game categories in league play as well as for the season as a whole. In league play, Carver rounds out the top 10 for scoring, averaging 14.9 points per SBC game. Alston checks in at sixth for assists, averaging 4.1 per game in conference play and moves up to eighth for the season thus far.
App State continues to lead the SBC for made 3-pointers for the season and conference play. The Mountaineers are third in team 3-point percentage in conference-only play (.332) and fourth for the season as a whole (.305). App State checks back in at third in the conference for steals made in SBC play, sixth in the league in scoring for the season overall.
Last Time Against ULM
App State hosted ULM on Jan. 22, 2022, defeating the Warhawks, 67-61. Three Mountaineers scored double figures as App State maintained a 71.4 percentage from the line and 44.8 percentage from the field. Carver netted 12 points.
Michaela Porter recorded a team-high five steals and had eight rebounds in addition to 10 points. App State forced 23 Warhawk turnovers, which resulted in 30 points off turnovers for the Black and Gold.
Scouting ULM
The Warhawks are 7-21 (3-14 SBC) this season. The Warhawks enter Friday's competition with seven consecutive losses since Feb. 2. ULM's three conference wins were against Arkansas State (Dec. 29), Coastal Carolina (Jan. 7) and South Alabama (Jan. 28).
Emma Merriweather is ULM's top scorer, averaging 9.6 points per game. She also leads the team in rebounds, pulling down an average of 10.5 per contest, and blocks, averaging 3.3 per game. Bree Sutton leads the team in assists, averaging 3.7 per contest.

App State will head to Pensacola, Fla. for the Sun Belt Tournament. The tournament will be held from Feb. 28 to March 6 and its champion will earn an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament.
With a win on Friday, App State is projected to take the No. 10 or No. 11 seed in the SBC Tournament. In the event of a loss, the Mountaineers would be projected to take the No. 11 or No. 12 seed. App State holds the tiebreaker against the current 10th-place team, Arkansas State.
Tournament play begins on Tuesday, Feb. 28 with an 11:30 a.m. CT (12:30 p.m. ET) game between the No. 12 and 13 seeds, followed by a 2 p.m. CT (3 p.m. ET) game between the No. 11 and No. 14 seeds. The No. 10 seed will start tournament play on Wednesday, March 1 with a 7:30 p.m. CT (8:30 p.m. ET) game against the No. 7 seed.
