BOONE, N.C. - App State women's basketball head coach
Alaura Sharp announced the 2025-26 schedule on Thursday in conjunction with the Sun Belt's announcement of the league schedule. The 2025-26 slate features 15 games in the Holmes Convocation Center, including a pair of four-game homestands.
Game times for the entire 2025-26 campaign as well as season ticket information will be announced at a later date.
"We are looking forward to the upcoming season," said Sharp. "We play a tough non-conference schedule which includes four postseason teams from last season. This will get us primed and ready for the competitive Sun Belt conference. The Sun Belt schedule also includes four teams who competed in the postseason. The league is a gauntlet year in and year out. We need the Boone community to continue to get behind our program and buckle up for a fun season."
The Mountaineers will tipoff the season with the first installment of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Nov. 3, hosting Western Michigan. In their first meeting in the second installment of the 2022 MAC-SBC Challenge, App State defeated the Broncos, 78-68, in Kalamazoo, Mich. The season opener against WMU marks the start of the four-game homestretch for the Mountaineers that includes matchups against Bob Jones, Davidson, and Wofford. Davidson made a postseason appearance in the Women's Basketball Invitational Tournament (WBIT).
For a third time in program history, App State will take on the Mountaineers of West Virginia in Morganton, WVa. West Virginia went 25-8 (13-5 Big 12) last season and made a second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament, falling short to No. 12 North Carolina. The Black and Gold will make a stop at UNC Asheville before rounding out November's competition with a home clash against Norfolk State on Nov. 25. The Spartans made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, earned a vote in the AP Top-25 and was ranked fourth on the
CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 after going 30-5 last winter.
Four of App State's five December matchups will be on the road. The Mountaineers will take on Gardner-Webb on Dec. 1 and Clemson on Dec. 7. The Mountaineers last met Clemson during the 2018-19 campaign. On the second leg of the Mountaineers' December road stretch, the Black and Gold will open Sun Belt play against Marshall and Georgia Southern on Dec. 17 and 20.
App State will close 2025 with a home game against Carolina University on Dec. 29, before opening the new year with home clashes against Marshall, Coastal Carolina, and Southern Miss. The Mountaineers will depart on their second four-game road stretch with stops at Old Dominion, Georgia State, Texas State, and Louisiana before capping the month of January with home clashes against South Alabama and ULM. App State looks to keep its unblemished record over ULM in its 16th program matchup against the Warhawks.
After a road clash with Troy, App State will take on another MAC opponent in the second installment of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Feb. 7. Opponents for the second portion of the challenge will be announced in January.
On Feb. 11, App State will host reigning regular season SBC champions James Madison in the Holmes Center. Last winter, James Madison received votes in the Coaches Poll and ranked eighth on the
CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 poll. The Dukes went 18-0 in conference play (30-6 overall) and made an appearance in the quarterfinals of the WBIT as the No. 1 seed. The Mountaineers will also host Georgia State for a Valentine's Day clash.
The Black and Gold will make stops at Coastal Carolina and James Madison on its final road trip of the 2025-26 campaign. Wrapping up the regular season, App State will host Georgia Southern on Feb. 25 and Old Dominion on Feb. 27.
The Sun Belt Tournament is slated for March 3-9 in Pensacola, Fla. All 14 teams will qualify for the tournament with the champions advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
