BOONE, N.C. — App State student-athletes extended their impressive streak to 23 consecutive semesters with a cumulative GPA above 3.0 thanks to their academic performances during the 2023 fall.
The Mountaineers ended the fall with a 3.17 semester GPA for all student-athletes, contributing to a 3.19 cumulative GPA for all student-athletes.
Every program at App State finished the fall with a cumulative GPA above 2.85, led by a 3.62 from women's golf, which had a department-best GPA of 3.73 during the fall.
Field hockey, soccer and tennis also had a semester GPA of at least 3.50, while the other teams with a cumulative GPA above 3.50 are volleyball and women's cross country.
On the men's side, the top semester GPA was a 3.34 that belonged to men's cross country, which also possesses the top cumulative men's GPA with a 3.30.
In September, with a combined 223 honorees among the lists for the Academic Honor Roll (league-high 102 members), Commissioner's List (109 members) and 1A Far Academic Excellence Award (12 members), App State ranked in the top four among the 14 football-playing Sun Belt institutions.
