#AppStateNFL Update, Week 14

BOONE, N.C. — D'Marco Jackson scored his first NFL touchdown Sunday, reaching the end zone in a way that looked similar to the touchdown he scored on special teams for App State in 2019.

The Mountaineers have a Sun Belt-leading 13 alums currently on NFL rosters. San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks is also an App State alum.

Here's a closer look at our #AppStateNFL alums from Week 14.

D'Marco Jackson — LB, New Orleans Saints
Saints teammate Nephi Sewell knocked the ball loose on a punt attempt from the Carolina Panthers with less than five minutes remaining in the second quarter Sunday. Jackson scooped up the loose ball and ran 8 yards to the end zone on what was officially scored as a fumble return to give New Orleans a 14-3 lead in a 28-6 victory.

Four years ago, while also facing a Charlotte-area team, Jackson scored his first collegiate touchdown on the 16-yard return of a Charlotte 49ers punt attempt blocked by Shaun Jolly.

Jackson also had one special teams tackle while playing 79 percent of the special teams plays as the Saints (6-7) moved into a tie for first place in the NFC South.

Ryan Neuzil  – OL, Atlanta Falcons
Neuzil made his first career start at center Sunday against Tampa Bay — it was his officially his second NFL start, counting a Week 6 start as an extra tackle playing H-back.

Drew Dalman missed the 29-25 loss to Tampa Bay, creating an opportunity for Neuzil to start, and he played all 72 offensive snaps, plus more while blocking on special teams. He competed for App State's starting center spot in 2017 but ended up moving to left guard and starting 44 straight games at that position.

*Kendall Lamm – OL, Miami Dolphins
Lamm started at left tackle and played all 72 offensive snaps in Miami's 28-27 loss to Tennessee on Monday Night Football.

Akeem Davis-Gaither – LB, Cincinnati Bengals
Davis-Gaither made two tackles on defense and also downed a punt in Cincinnati's 34-14 win against Indianapolis. He played 17 percent of the defensive snaps and 70 percent of the special teams plays.

Sam Martin – P, Buffalo Bills
Martin averaged 46.5 yards on four punts, with one 61-yard punt in addition to a 50-yarder, as the Bills won 20-17 at Kansas City.

Nick Hampton — OLB, Los Angeles Rams
Hampton made a tackle on a 3-yard run and played on 21 percent of the defensive snaps during the Rams' overtime loss to Baltimore.

Shaun Jolly – CB, Los Angeles Rams
Jolly appeared in a game for the second straight week, appearing on 86 percent of the special teams play.

Also on NFL Practice Squads

Tae Hayes – CB, New York Jets
Shemar Jean-Charles – CB, New Orleans Saints
