#AppState NFL: Week 2 Recap

BOONE, N.C. – App State currently has 11 football alums on NFL rosters, including Arizona Cardinals linebacker Akeem Davis-Gaither, who posted another strong outing during a win Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Akeem Davis-Gaither – Arizona Cardinals (LB)
In his second consecutive start, Davis-Gaither had six tackles, including a solo tackle on special teams. Playing 62% of defensive snaps and 64% of special teams snaps, he also recorded a quarterback hurry on Bryce Young in the 27-22 win.

Ryan Neuzil – Atlanta Falcons (OL)
Neuzil made his second start of the season for the Falcons, playing 100% of all offensive snaps at center and earning the best PFF grade (83.6) of any offensive player on the team. In the 22-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football, he allowed zero sacks. His blocking helped running back Bijan Robinson produce 168 scrimmage yards.

Sam Martin – Carolina Panthers (P)
In his second game for the Panthers, Martin attempted two punts, landing one inside the 20-yard line and booting the other 60 yards. Martin performed a successful onside kick late in the game, giving the Panthers a chance to win. He was also the holder on a 27-yard field goal and an extra point, both of which were good.

Nick Hampton — Los Angeles Rams (OLB)
Playing in 23% of defensive snaps and 61% of special teams snaps, Hampton's play helped the Rams to a win over the Tennessee Titans.

D'Marco Jackson – Chicago Bears (LB)
Jackson played in his second game with the Bears, seeing action on 59% of special teams snaps in a loss to the Detroit Lions.

Kendall Lamm – Miami Dolphins (OL)
Lamm saw his first action of the season against the New England Patriots, playing in 18% of special teams snaps as a blocker on kicks.

Tyrek Funderburk — Minnesota Vikings (CB)
Funderburk was signed by the Vikings on Sept. 11 after a rookie-year stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Shemar Jean-Charles — Seattle Seahawks (CB)
Jean-Charles was signed to the Seattle Seahawks practice squad in late August.

Ahmani Marshall — Cleveland Browns (RB)
Marshall made the practice squad as an undrafted free agent.

Cooper Hodges – Jacksonville Jaguars (OL)
Hodges remains on injured reserve while recovering from a knee injury suffered last season.

Jalen McLeod — Jacksonville Jaguars (LB)
McLeod, who played three seasons at App State, is currently on the injured reserve list due to a lower-body injury suffered in practice in August but will be eligible to return later in the season.
