Mountaineers Set for Road Rematch Against Marshall

BOONE, N.C. - The App State women's basketball team hits the road for a Thursday night rematch against Marshall in Huntington, W.Va. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be available to stream on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Mountaineers return to the court after a 65-51 loss to Louisiana on Jan. 28. Despite strong 3-point shooting by the Black and Gold in the first quarter, App State fought through a drought in the second half that gave the Ragin' Cajuns enough gumption to take the lead and seal the win.

Sophomore Emily Carver and junior Faith Alston scored double figures, netting 17 and 16 points apiece. Saturday's game marked Carver's sixth consecutive game scoring double figures and fourth in six games as App State's leading scorer.

Redshirt senior Janay Sanders is on the verge of netting her 1,000th collegiate career point, as she currently has 970 points from her time at La Salle and App State. Sanders has been App State's top scorer in nine games this season, including three consecutive games from Dec. 31 to Jan. 7.

The Mountaineers maintained a lead for most of the game, but a slow third quarter gave Marshall enough momentum to score 21 points in the fourth quarter compared to App State's 12 for the victory. Sanders scored 16 points and pulled down three rebounds. Carver earned a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
