CHARLESTON, S.C. -- App State women's tennis will travel on Wednesday to face Samford at noon in a neutral site match.
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
- App State fell 4-1 in its last match at Western Carolina on Wednesday.
- On Wednesday, Helena Jansen and Ellie Murphy teamed up for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. In singles action, Jansen won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Virginia Poggi and Olwyn Ryan-Bovey each had split sets before the match was called.
- Jansen leads the Mountaineers in singles wins with nine, followed by Erika Dodridge with seven.
- Dodridge also leads the team in doubles wins with five, making her and Jansen tied for overall victories with 12 apiece.Â
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
- Samford improved to 6-5 on the season with a 6-1 victory over Jacksonville State on Saturday.
- R.J. Van Rensburg leads the team in singles wins with nine, followed by Lindsay Song and Samantha Nanere with seven apiece.
- In doubles play, Rensburg and Alexis Lopez lead the team as a pair with an overall record of 7-3.
UP NEXT
App State will continue its southern road trip this weekend, facing off against Georgia Southern on Saturday and Georgia State on Sunday, each at 10 am.
