Women's Tennis Falls in Spring Opener at No. 3 North Carolina

Box Score CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- App State women's tennis fell in its spring opener to No. 3-ranked North Caroline on Saturday.

The Tar Heels (2-0), won the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, Helena Jansen and Ellie Murphy dropped a tough 6-3 decision to the No. 6-ranked tandem of Cameron Morra and Carson Tanguilig.

In singles action, the Mountaineers (0-1) took on four players ranked within the top-60. At the No. 5 singles position, Olwyn Ryan-Bovey dropped a close three-set match 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). 

App State's road match at Charlotte, scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m., has been postponed due to impending forecasted weather. The Mountaineers play next on Jan. 29 against Lees-McRae in their home opener.
