Last time out, the Mountaineers suffered a 92-98 loss against Arkansas State in their Sun Belt Season Opener on Thursday. Janay Sanders led App State scoring 19 points, while Alexia Allesch tied her careeer-high of 18 points and tallying her second double-double with 11 rebounds.

• The Mountaineers ended non-conference play 6-7 before beginning Sun Belt play (0-1) on Thursday against the Red Wolves, following four games canceled due to COVID protcols and injuries.
• Preseason All-Sun Belt third teamer Michaela Porter leads the Black and Gold and ranks seventh in the Sun Belt, averaging 14.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists and a team-best 2.5 steals.
• Janay Sanders is second on the team and moves up to 13th in the Sun Belt with 11.6 ppg, including a career-high 22 at Mercer and 19 at Duke.
• Faith Alston is fifth on the team with 8.4 points per game and sets the table with a team-high 3.1 assists per outing.
• Newcomer Alexia Allesch, a transfer from Seton Hall, is third on the team with 10.4 points per game and a team-high 8.1 rebounds and a team-best 0.9 blocks
• Freshman Emily Carver is fourth among Sun Belt players with 1.7 three's made per game.
• This is the 15th matching between the Mountaineers and the Trojans.
• Last year's team finished 15-12 overall and 10-8 in Sun Belt Conference play.
• Head coach Angel Elderkin is in her eighth season at the helm and is looking to lead App State to its second straight winning season and third in four years.
