Box Score Boone, N.C. - App State women's soccer fell to Wake Forest in a 2-0 deficit on Sunday evening at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
The Mountaineers drop from 2-1-1 to 2-2-1 on the season, while Wake Forest improves 6-0.
Wake Forest got on the board when Malaika Meena scored in the 9th minute of the contest, while Sofia Rossi earned the assist.
Jenna Menta scored the second goal of the night for the Deacons in the 32nd minute, after Shayla Smart passed the ball to Sofia Rossi to pick up her second helper of the night.
Kerry Eagleston recorded a personal high of 20 saves between the posts against the Deacons. Eagleston was one save away from tying the most saves in a single game of 21 by Kelley Guinn in 1995 against Davidson. In addition, she has recorded the most saves in a single game thus far in a game this season.
"I think that we weathered the storm a little bit and playing at that level and that caliber of a team and athlete, the girls bought into the plan," said head coach Sarah Strickland. "I think that they executed it extremely well. I thought they pressed well. I thought they came away with possession and created chances off of it."
App State had four shots, with two being on goal.
The Mountaineers return to action on Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. on the road against Wofford to start its four-game road stretch.
