BOONE, N.C. - App State women's cross country will race in the Firetower Project on Friday at 4 p.m. in the 5k at Don Kennedy Fields.
The field will feature UNCA, UNCW, Elon, USC Upstate, College of Charleston, Lees-McRae, and Montreat.
About the Mountaineers
Izzy Evely paced the Black and Gold as she ran across the line with a time of 17:41.70 for an eighth-place finish. Lila Peters crossed the line with a time of 17:58.92 to place 17th, while Jasmine Donohue came in 18th with a time of 18:03.08 in her first collegiate race. A transfer from Troy, Macki Walsh's first App State meet was timed at 18:14.79 for a finish in 21st. A pair of freshmen in Linnea Maynard (32nd) and Alexis Svoboda (33rd) notched times of 18:29.98 and 18:33.34, respectively, in their first meets for the Mountaineers.
Cracking the Rankings
App State cracked the first week of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional rankings. The Mountaineers jumped to 14th after being unranked in the preseason poll. Elon, who will participate in the race, is seventh in the poll going into the meet.
