BOONE, N.C. — The preseason All-Sun Belt football teams from Lindy's include eight App State standouts as well as additional individual recognition.
Demetrius Taylor (defensive line),
D'Marco Jackson (linebacker) and
Shaun Jolly (defensive back) appear on the first-team defense, while
Baer Hunter (offensive line) and
Camerun Peoples (running back) are listed on the first-team offense.
Cooper Hodges (offensive line),
Daetrich Harrington (running back) and
Malik Williams (all purpose) made the preseason second team from Lindy's.
With Coastal Carolina quarterback Grayson McCall being tabbed the preseason MVP, Lindy's named Peoples the preseason offensive player of the year coming off a 2020 season in which he rushed for 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Lindy's also named Peoples the league's toughest player to bring down, and Taylor was listed as the league's best pass rusher. He will enter the 2021 season with 19.5 career sacks and 35.5 tackles for loss.
Additionally, first-year App State quarterback and ACC transfer
Chase Brice has been tabbed the league's newcomer of the year, and Jolly is ranked as the 12th-best cornerback in the country by the publication.
Lindy's has picked the Mountaineers to finish second in the Sun Belt's East Division.
