BOONE, N.C. – App State student-athletes continue to impress in the classroom, as they posted their 18th straight semester with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average this spring.
The Mountaineers ended the spring with a 3.16 GPA for all student-athletes. The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes currently sits at 3.29.
Twelve programs ended the spring with over a 3.0 semester GPA, with six programs higher than a 3.5. Women's golf led all sports with a 3.68 semester GPA, followed by softball with a 3.60. Men's cross country topped the men's sports with a 3.36, followed closely by men's golf with a 3.34.
All App State's teams maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, with women's cross country leading the way at 3.68. Field hockey and women's golf aren't far behind, with a 3.65 and 3.64, respectively. On the men's side, men's golf holds the highest cumulative GPA with a 3.48.
The Mountaineers were recognized by the Sun Belt in 2020 for their academic excellence, boasting the highest number of student-athletes named to the Honor Roll and Commissioner's list with 330. App State also won the 2019-20 Sun Belt Conference Overall Student Graduation Rate Award, with a graduation success rate of 85 percent. This was the second straight year that App State has had the highest graduation rate among overall student bodies of conference schools.
