KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. -
Timothius Tirto Tamardi moved into fifth place in the individual race Tuesday to close round two of the NCAA Kingston Springs Regional.
"Tirto hit the ball today as good as he has all year," head coach
Jason Allison said. "If he could have had some putts drop, it would have been a mid 60's round. He just has to keep striking it well and give himself more chances."
Tamardi sank two back-nine birdies Tuesday en route to a 1-under-par 70. He currently sits just four strokes behind the individual leader James Piot (-2) from Michigan State.
The low individual who is not part of the team competition will advance to the NCAA finals in Scottsdale, Arizona at Grayhawk Golf Club.
On Monday, Tamardi carded an opening-round 74 and is now 2-over entering Wednesday's final round at the Golf Club Of Tennessee.
In the team race, San Diego State leads the 13-team field after day two, 11-under as a squad. Vanderbilt is close behind in second at 9-under-par as a team.
