Baseball Hosts Aggies at 5 p.m. on Tuesday

BOONE, N.C. — App State, which is 5-0 at home on its new turf field since the start of the 2020 season, returns to Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium for its fourth home game of 2021 when it faces North Carolina A&T on Thursday at 5 p.m.

The game between the Mountaineers (6-8) and Aggies (5-10) is scheduled to be on ESPN+. Live stats will also be available by clicking HERE.

App State is 3-1 so far this season against North Carolina A&T, including 3-0 at home. The Mountaineers swept a Saturday doubleheader on Feb. 27 by scores of 6-2 and 7-6. Two days later, back in Boone, App State won 14-7.

The Mountaineers have used a "staff day" approach during their midweek games to date, as Cam Roberts threw the first two innings in a win at ETSU on Feb. 23 and Andrew Terrell pitched the first two innings of the 14-7 victory against North Carolina A&T.

In four games against the Aggies, Luke Drumheller and Phillip Cole have combined for 11 RBIs. Alex Leshock (.429 with five runs scored), Terrell (.429 with six run scored), Robbie Young (.429) and Drumheller (.412 with five runs scored) all hit at least .400 against North Carolina A&T in their first four meetings of 2021.

On Monday, App State Athletics announced that, in compliance with North Carolina Executive Order No. 195, there will be additional but limited seating options available for the remaining home baseball games this spring at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. The executive order currently permits up to 30-percent capacity for outdoor athletic venues.

At all App State venues, six feet of social distancing between seating pods is required, and face coverings are required for all guests and game day staff.

Additional options for fans Tuesday include small-group seating areas at picnic tables and on grass hill pods on the first-base side of home plate, four-person fire pit areas and a heated outfield deck area for groups of six-to-eight people.

Pricing is on a per-game basis, and seating is based on availability. To purchase or obtain more information about available options, contact Elizabeth Probst in the App State ticket office at probstef@appstate.edu.

App State will be offering concessions that are available through cashless transactions only (Visa, Mastercard and Discover). Available items include hot dogs, candy, nachos, popcorn and Pepsi products.
