BOONE, N.C. - Both App State men and women's cross country squads lace up Friday in the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships from Mobile, Alabama, hosted by the University of South Alabama.
Either the men or women have won the conference title during a four-season span of 2016-19. The men won the crown in 2017 and 2019, while the women ran to victory in 2016 and 2018. Both App State men and women teams are eyeing their third title each since joining the Sun Belt.
The women's 5K will begin at 11 a.m. (EST) with the men's 8K starting at noon (EST). Both championship events will be aired on ESPN+ from Brookley by the Bay.
In 2021, the women finished either first or second as a team in four of five events this season, winning two meets. The men also won two of five events ran this season.
Currently, the men rank ninth in the Southeast USTFCCCA Regional Rankings. The women sit at No. 13 in the region.
