App State Men's Tennis Prepares for Two Road Matches this Weekend

BOONE N.C. – App State men's tennis heads on the road for the weekend, where it will face UNCG on Friday at 2 p.m. before heading to Buies Creek to face Campbell on Saturday at 1 p.m.

 Last Time Out
App State narrowly fell in a pair of 4-3 matches against both Presbyterian and UNC Asheville. The Apps finished the weekend with a win in Boone, beating Winthrop 4-1 for their first home victory of the season. Against Winthrop, doubles winners included Aleksandar Petrovic/Matvey Radionov, and Milo Bargeron/Zion Heaven. Singles winners included Bargeron, Radionov, and Blake Carter. Carter clinched the contest in his first
start since the first weekend of the season, while Radionov upped his win streak in singles to four matches. 
 
Wins Leaders
Radionov is leading the Mountaineers in singles wins with a 5-4 record. Behind him is Bargeron with four wins and Heaven with three victories. In doubles, Bargeron/Heaven and Petrovic/Radionov lead the way with two wins each as pairs, while three other App State pairs have one doubles win.
 
Scouting UNC Greensboro
UNCG is 2-2 so far on its young season, beginning with a 5-2 win against Winthrop. They then lost two straight close matches against Furman and Radford, losing 4-3 in each match. The Spartans are now coming off of a 4-3 win against Florida Gulf Coast from last Saturday. Their standout singles performer thus far has been Nico Grewe with a 4-0 record. In doubles, Grewe/Ollie Parmer lead their team with a 2-2 record, and UNCG has three other doubles wins and eight other singles wins.
 
Scouting Campbell
Campbell is coming into this weekend with a 2-2 record. The Camels started their season with two big losses, losing to Duke 7-0, and UNCW, 6-1. Since then, they have won two straight matches against NC Central, winning 6-1, and Elon by a score of 4-3. Against Elon, their singles winners included Ondrej Labik (2-2), Raphael Calzi (2-2), and Bastien Huon (2-2).
 
What's Next
App State will continue their string of road matches in Charlotte next weekend, against Charlotte and North Florida, and will then head to Orlando to play two matches on March 12th against Xavier and James Madison.
