Women's Basketball Welcomes Louisiana in First of Final Two Home Games

BOONE, N.C. - App State women's basketball is on its final home stretch of the season, when it hosts Louisiana on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Holmes Center.

Last Time Out
A 31-point fourth quarter by Georgia Southern was too much for App State, as the Apps fell to the Eagles 78-70 on Saturday in Statesboro. After having single-digit scoring performances in back-to-back games, Pre Stanley poured in a game-high 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field. It was the highest scoring outing on the road this season for the junior. Ashley Polacek scored 13 points with four steals, while Brooke Bigott chipped
in with 10 points and dished out four assists. 

What to Watch for
- Louisiana tops the league in turnovers forced during conference play. The Mountaineers turned the ball over 17 times, which is the most since having 18 against Georgia State in the first meeting. Watch if App can take care of the ball on Thursday.
- See if the defense can bounce back after allowing 78 points to Georgia Southern. Louisiana is 5-7 this season when scoring 65 points or less.
- The starting five of Stanley, Lainey Gosnell, Polacek, Bayley Plummer and Bigott are averaging 53.2 points over the last four home games (49.9 overall). See if the starters can continue to step up at home.
- After averaging 4.5 points over the previous two games, Stanley scored 23 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field on Saturday against Georgia Southern. See if the junior can build off her performance.
- In the three-game stretch against South Alabama, Troy and Georgia State (2-1), the Mountaineers averaged 15.7 assists and assisted on 65.4 percent of their field goals. App State had only nine helpers to 17 turnovers on Saturday. See if the Black and Gold can move the ball around on Thursday. 

Scouting Louisiana
- Louisiana is coming off back-to-back wins following a 63-49 victory over ULM.
- The Ragin' Cajuns were led by Kimberly Burton, who scored 19 points to lead three players in double figures.
- Jomyra Mathis scored 18 and Ty'Reona Doucet rounded out the leading scorers with 14 points.
- Doucet leads the team in scoring at a clip of 12.7 points per game and rebounding at 7.4 per game.
- Brandi Williams is second in scoring, as she averages 11.5 points per game.
- Louisiana is first in the conference during league action, forcing 17.36 turnover per game.
- The Ragin' Cajuns are 7-6 on the road and 4-3 away from home during league action.
- Louisiana is third in the Sun Belt during league games forcing 9.1 steals per game. 

Series History
- Louisiana owns a 5-3 mark in the all-time series with all three victories for the Black and Gold coming in the Holmes Center. The Mountaineers are 3-1 at home against the Ragin' Cajuns, including an 83-69 win last season.

What's Next
App State will host ULM on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day, where the Apps will honor Kaila Craven, Armani Hampton, Nicola Mathews, Plummer and Polacek.
