BOONE, N.C. - App State Athletics lended a helping hand on Election Day at the Western Youth Network.
With all athletics activities suspended Tuesday to allow student-athletes and staff the opportunity to vote, a group of student-athletes and staff members spent the afternoon picking up litter at the WYN office and around Junaluska Park and helping prepare for gardening in the spring.
"It's a beautiful thing to work for a gentleman in Doug Gillin that cares enough about our community to organize a day of service," Director of Student-Athlete Development Pierre Banks said. "My hats off to him and all of my colleagues who took the time to uplift our community today."
The Western Youth Network offers after-school services and youth services for at-risk youth in and around Boone. You can volunteer with the WYN by clicking HERE.
