BOONE, N.C. — App State men's golf officially replaces its final fall event of 2020 with the Bash in the Boro, a two-day, 54-hole event hosted by Georgia Southern on Monday and Tuesday.
Originally, the Mountaineers were scheduled to compete in the Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational on the same dates in Bridgeport, West Virginia, hosted by West Virginia University. However, the invitational was postponed.
As a result, App State will now head down to the Peach State, as the Bash in the Boro will take place in Statesboro, Georgia. The Georgia Southern University Course is a par-72, 6,850-yard layout.
"We are looking forward to having a chance to compete again," coach Allison said. "We have nice momentum and are excited to test ourselves on a tough golf course against a historically great field of teams."
A total of seven universities are slated to compete: Augusta, App State, Francis Marion, Georgia Southern, Troy, Western Kentucky and Wofford. To reduce contact tracing, each team will compete in pods of six (two groups of three) with their own teammates and count the lowest four scores.
The two-day event is scheduled for 36 holes of competition Monday, and the final 18 will be played Tuesday. The practice round will take place Sunday.
Timothius Tirto Tamardi, Jake Lane, Dylan Lukes, Lukas Jönnson, Justin Morgan and Sverrir Haraldsson are the projected starting six for the Mountaineers.
Eyeing to close out the fall campaign on a strong note, the Black and Gold is coming off of a third consecutive top-three team finish and sixth in the last two seasons. On the individual leaderboards, App State has posted at least two top-15 finishers during both fall events thus far.
Spectators are allowed at the Bash in the Boro but must wear face coverings indoors at all times and practice social distancing on the course.
