JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. –
Eric Haddock Jr. posted the fifth-best long jump in program history to earn field MVP honors and lead App State men's track & field at the ETSU Track & Field Invitational.
The meet featured no team scoring.
Haddock Jr. won the event by over six inches, covering 24-9.75 (7.56m) with his leap.
Jordan Johnson placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 23-2.50 (7.07m) and
Tyler Lewis was eighth with a mark of 22-3.00 (6.78m).
Zachary Weinstein captured the weight throw with a PR mark of 56-0.00 (17.07m).
Peter Kenn was right behind in second with a mark of 54-11.25 (16.74m) and
Michael Albert finished eighth with a toss of 47-11.75 (14.62m). Albert recorded a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 46-4.75 (14.14m).
App State placed three of the top-four in the 3,000-meter run.
Isaac Benz crossed second in 8:35.83,
Ben Cignarale was third in 8:56.35 and Ethan Barber placed fourth with a time of 8:57.61.
In the 5,000-meter run,
Lawson Benfield finished second with a time of 15:56.82 and
Conrad Phillips placed seventh in 16:18.67.
Patrick Freeman cleared 14-9.00 (4.50m) to finish second in the pole vault.
Brenton Ervin recorded a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 22.07 seconds and
Sean Doyle crossed third in the 800-meter run in 2:01.62.
In the 60-meter dash,
De'Shawn Ballard placed fourth in 6.86 seconds and
Jabari Johnson was sixth in 6.96 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay tandem of
Mitchell Harris, Ballard, Doyle and
Jabari Johnson crossed fifth in 3:26.39.
App State will compete again on Jan. 19 at the JDL January College Kick-Off in Winston-Salem at 9:30 a.m.
