BOONE, N.C. — For the second straight year, Appalachian State Baseball has set a program record for season tickets sold.
Last year, a 2013 ticket record set following an NCAA Regional run was broken, and that total has been topped for 2019 at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium.
The Mountaineers opened their home schedule over the weekend and took two of three games from Manhattan, with a 14-5 win accounting for their most runs in a game since 2015.
Will Sprinkle took a no-hitter into the seventh inning of a series-opening victory.
"It is very fitting that we get this news coming off the great crowds that we had this weekend," third-year App State head coach
Kermit Smith said. "I have said since I arrived to the High Country that our fan base is special — it is a family, and they bleed Black and Gold. We are working hard to put a great product on the field for this dedicated family of supporters. It's a great day to be a Mountaineer!"
After playing at South Carolina on Tuesday afternoon and facing Gardner-Webb in Charlotte on Friday night, App State will complete the Gardner-Webb series with home games in Boone against the Bulldogs on Saturday and Sunday.
Season tickets for App State's home schedule, which still has 25 more games remaining on it, are available at a cost of just $85 for adults, $75 for App State staff/faculty (limit of two) or senior citizens (limit of two) and $45 for youth (ages 3-12). Additionally, there is a Family Four Pack plan that includes two adult season tickets and two youth season tickets for $235 ($25 off the regular price for all four).
