Biography

2019: Spent most of the season as App State’s Game 1 weekend starter and finished 2-8 with a 6.85 ERA in 14 games (13 starts) … Totaled 43 strikeouts and just 15 walks in 68.1 innings (second on the team) … Allowed four earned runs or less in each of his first nine starts and pitched at least 6.0 innings in six of his first nine starts … Took a no-hitter into the sixth inning of a 5-2 win against Manhattan and was perfect through five innings vs. Georgia Southern … Allowed two runs in a career-high-tying seven innings to pick up the win vs. ULM on April 12. In that victory, struck out five batters and allowed just four hits: a bunt single that preceded a homer that snuck inside the right-field pole, a check-swing bloop single over an infielder’s head and an infield single between the mound and first base … In the Georgia Southern game, had five strikeouts during his five perfect innings and was in position to get out of a three-run sixth with just one run allowed, but a two-out ball hit directly into the defensive shift instead ricocheted off an umpire for an inning-prolonging RBI single … Allowed two runs on seven hits in seven innings of a 2-0 loss vs. Georgia State and recorded a career-high nine strikeouts with three earned runs allowed in 6.2 innings against Furman.

2018: Ranked second on the team with a 2.96 ERA in 12 appearances, including five straight as the Game 3 weekend starter to end the season … Had a 2-1 record in his five Sun Belt starts with road wins against ULM (4-1) and UTA (6-4). Also left with a lead with two away in the fifth inning of an 11-7 victory against No. 16 Coastal Carolina to close the season … Through seven games as a reliever, before making his starting debut at ULM on April 21, had a 0.89 ERA for the season thanks to a scoreless streak of 13.2 consecutive innings. Increased his scoreless innings streak to 16.2 at ULM and finished that win with one run allowed on three hits and five strikeouts recorded in 5.2 innings … Pitched seven innings in back-to-back starts at UTA (four runs allowed in a sweep-clinching win) and Georgia State, where he gave up one run on two hits while recording five strikeouts. Sprinkle exited that game with a 2-1 lead, as he faced one batter over the minimum through seven innings and retired 20 of the 22 hitters he encountered. He gave up a first-inning homer, and a leadoff single in the fourth inning was erased by an unsuccessful steal attempt … Had a 3.32 ERA in league play with nine total appearances, and Sun Belt batters hit .219 against him. Allowed a .226 average for the season … Finished the season with 28 strikeouts in 48.2 innings … With runners on base, gave up only a .217 batting average.

High School: CPC Pitcher of the Year, all-conference and all-state as a senior at Reagan High School outside of Winston-Salem … 2.30 ERA with 70 strikeouts and a 1.10 WHIP in 55 innings pitched as a senior. Also hit .479 with 12 doubles … Coached by Gary Nail at Reagan … Member of the EvoShield Canes travel team coached by Darin Campbell … Second place at the Perfect Game World Series and Final Four at the WWGA in Georgia.
