Brown Leads Men's Cross Country to Seventh Place Finish at Greater Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Ryan Brown finished 20th overall in a field of over 375 runners to lead Appalachian State men's cross country to a seventh place finish at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.

App State tallied 307 points in the meet for its seventh place finish, ahead of SEC schools Vanderbilt, Kentucky and Mississippi State. Middle Tennessee State won the meet with 81 points.

Brown crossed in 24:15.00, which is bettered his PR by two seconds, set at the Mountains to Sea Open two weeks ago.

Isaac Benz continued his strong season with a 26th place finish in 24:26.70. 

The Black and Gold placed three others in the top-100 of the meet. Michael Flanagan crossed 85th in a PR time of 24:57.0, Gable Dershem placed 89th in his first race of the season in 24:58.9 and George Hotelling crossed 95th in 25:02.2, which betters his PR by over 30 seconds.

App State will send a group of runners to the Royals Challenge in Charlotte on Friday and compete at the HPU VertKlasse Open on Oct. 18 in its final race before the Sun Belt Championships on Nov. 2.
