Kristin Brown Named Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week

NEW ORLEANS - For the first time in her career, App State women's soccer senior Kristin Brown was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

Brown is the second Mountaineer this season (Hayley Boyles) to garner the award, following a week where the Apps went 1-0-1.

In the 3-0 victory against ULM, Brown highlighted the triumph with her first-career performance with a goal and an assist. She found Kyndall
Edwards off a corner shot that gave App the 1-0 edge before scoring a goal to give App a 2-0 advantage.

Brown and the defense helped shut out Arkansas State on Senior Day in a 0-0 tie. The Apps posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time this
season, while App State finished unbeaten at home for the first time since 2001.

The Mooresville, N.C. native is having a career season, where she leads the team with a career-high six assists. Her 10 points are also
a personal-best and is tied for the team lead. She is tied for third in the Sun Belt in assists and fifth in assists per game.

Brown and the Mountaineers are down to the final weekend of the regular season with a Sun Belt Tournament appearance on the line. App
faces South Alabama on Friday at 8 p.m. (ET) before concluding the regular season on Sunday at 1 p.m. against Georgia State.
