BOONE, N.C. -- The Appalachian State men's soccer team looks to remain undefeated in conference play, hosting Sun Belt preseason favorite, Coastal Carolina, Saturday at 7 p.m. The 9-2-1 Mountaineers are winners of their last three matches and look to continue their eight-game unbeaten streak at Ted Mack.

Last Time Out
App State took down UAB, 2-1, in double overtime Wednesday night, surpassing their win total from last season.
Kelan Swales was the difference maker for the Mountaineers, finishing a deflection into the upper 90 for the game-winner in the 102
nd minute. Swales now has four goals on the season, including two game-winners.
After a scoreless first half, App State struck first in the 63
rd minute as
Austin Hill found
Nick Rogers in the box for the freshman's third goal of the season. From there, the Mountaineers held the Blazers scoreless until the 82
nd minute, when Joseph Buete finished a rebound off a save from
Jacob Madden, to tie the game up. In goal, Madden made four key saves en route to his ninth victory of the season.
The team is now 9-2-1, their highest win tally since 2015.
Sizzling Swales
Since transferring to Appalachian State from Marshall,
Kelan Swales, the sophomore from West Yorkshire, England has been a standout player for the Mountaineers. The forward currently leads the team in goals (4) and points (10). He also has two assists on the season.

The Mountaineer defense continues to lead the Sun Belt, allowing just 8 goals in 1,110 minutes of play.
Jacob Madden's .648 goals against average and .837 save percentage are first in the league and sit at 17
th and 11
th in the national standings, respectively. The team's .849 save percentage is good for 7
th nationally and their .583 shutout percentage is good for 11
th.
United Soccer Coaches Ranking
App State was recently ranked 6th in the Southeast region by United Soccer Coaches, ahead of Sun Belt opponents Georgia Southern (8th) and Georgia State (9th). This is the sixth straight week the Mountaineers have been ranked top 10 in the Southeast region.
Scouting Coastal Carolina
The Chanticleers are coming into Saturday's match 4-6-2, with their last game a 0-0 draw at UNC Wilmington. A standout performer for the Chanticleers so far this season is freshman Sam Snaith from Cardiff, UK, leading the team with 4 goals. The Mountaineers will also have Tsiki Ntsabeleng on their scouting report, selected as the Sun Belt Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. The Chanticleers are 0-1-0 in conference play, falling to Central Arkansas in their conference opener.
Series History
The teams have met six times, with the Chanticleers holding the advantage at 2-3-1. The last time the two sides met, the Mountaineers topped the 22nd ranked Chanticleers, 2-1, in Conway.
