BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's soccer (5-1-1) faces a tough road test in High Point (6-1) on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in High Point, N.C.
About the Mountaineers
App State is coming off an impressive 1-0 victory over UNCG on Saturday at home to stay unblemished at Ted Mack and tie last season's win total. After a 0-0 first half score,
Juan Hernandez found
Reed Hunnicutt on the left side of the box before the sophomore sent a shot to the right side of the net for his first goal of the season. The defense played stellar as well, limiting UNCG to just one shot in the second (six in the first half) en route to shutting out the Spartans on the road for the first time. The 5-1-1 start is the best seven-match start since 2002.
Stingy Defense
Appalachian is tied for first in the Sun Belt with Coastal Carolina and Georgia Southern for the fewest goals allowed at five. The Apps are 4-0 this season when allowing three or fewer shots on goal and 1-1-1 when teams have shot five or more on target.

Once again, Holbrook was mentioned among the nation's best freshman as he was recognized by Top Drawer Soccer's top 10 freshmen among the nation. Included in that list were first-year players from schools such as Washington, Syracuse, Oregon State, SMU, NC State and Northwestern.
