BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's soccer student-athlete
Daniel Avila was named the Sun Belt Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week after a stellar performance last weekend.
Avila earns the award for the first time in his career, while it's the first time since
Jake Agnew was name Defensive Athlete of the Week last season. Avila shares the award with Hannes Burmeister of Georgia State.
The junior notched two assists in the Mountaineers' first win of the season in a 3-2 triumph at VCU on Saturday. The Smithfield, N.C., native fed
Austin Hill and
Zeiko Harris the rock for their first-career goals in the win.
The two helpers for Avila is a career-high and leads the team in the category as well as tied for the team lead in points with two. The three goals on the road were the most for App since the 2015 season and the first time since last season against USC Upstate (9/13/15).
App State will return to action on Friday against Central Arkansas at 5 p.m. at Ted Mackorell Soccer Complex.
