BOONE, N.C. -
Daniel Avila and
Tyquann Perinchief highlighted Appalachian State University men's soccer's Black and Gold match with a goal on Wednesday evening at Ted Mackorell Stadium, leading to a 1-1 draw.
Avila struck first for the Gold squad in the opening half at 24:29 in the box when he found the back of the net off a cross from
Camden Harrison to put Gold up 1-0. The rest of the half would go scoreless with the Black team getting off just one shot at the net.
Just into the first five minutes of the second half, the Black tied things up thanks to
Roman Galaska finding Perinchief on a 2-on-1 breakaway in the box.
The Gold team had its opportunities to take the lead late in the match with three more shots at the goal, but
Mitch Kilmer batted away all three of the attempts to keep the score at 1-apiece. Four of Kilmer's seven saves would come in the second half.
Jake Chasteen was between the posts for the Gold team coming up with a pair of saves.
App State will host Radford on Saturday at 7 p.m. for its last exhibition of the preseason.
