Watson, Men's Golf fight through a Wet Weekend

ESTERO, Fla. - In its final tournament on the fall schedule, the Appalachian State men's golf team shot a 656 (+80), good for seventh place out of 13 teams, on a rain-filled, shortened weekend of golf.

What was originally a three-round event, due to extensive rain and a washed-out course on Saturday, was cut to a two-round Sunday and Monday finish at the FGCU Classic.

It was the junior Chance Watson that led the way for the Mountaineers, scoring an 81 (+9) in the first round and 79 (+7) in the second round, good for a 19th-place finish in the field.

Following closely behind were Alex Burris (+19), Candler Rice (+21) and Tripp Summerlin (+24) to round out scorers.

The Apps will look to stay warm and ready to go through the cold winter in Boone. They will pick the season back up in the spring, where first-year coach Bo Redman and the team have their eyes set on a Sun Belt championship.
