BOONE, N.C. - In Appalachian State University field hockey's first season in the Mid-American Conference, three players were named to the All-MAC Teams, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Taylor Cimbalist and
Savanna Sheridan were selected to the first team while
Rebecca McLean earned second team honors.
"I am extremely proud of these three great women," head coach
Meghan Dawson said. "They have given everything they have to this program, and it is really exciting to see them continue to grow as players and most importantly as people. They are three of our hardest workers on our team and I couldn't be more proud."
All three recipients are seniors and served as captains this season, leading the Mountaineers to a 8-10 overall record and a 3-3 conference record.
Cimbalist finished the regular season with 11 goals, eight assists, 30 shots (26 on goal) and three game-winning goals. In conference play, the senior midfielder scored four goals and dished out four assists.
The Virginia Beach, Va., native has solidified herself at the top of the App State field hockey record books. She is the all-time assists leader with 21 career assists and is sixth in career points with 71. She is also tied for tenth in program history for career goals with 25.
Sheridan logged 1207 minutes this season, the second most by an App State position player this season. The senior midfielder scored one goal and had three assists, including the game-winning goal against Saint Louis.
McLean served primarily as a defender, but was a vital part of each App State penalty corner. The Wilmington, N.C., native logged a team-high 1286 minutes and racked up 32 shots (15 on goal), while scoring a goal and delivering four assists. She also made a defensive save in each of the final two regular season games.
The Mountaineers are in Kent, Ohio, preparing for the Mid-American Conference Tournament and will open up against the top-seeded Miami RedHawks on Nov. 3 at 11:30 a.m.
