LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Appalachian State University women's soccer (2-10-3, 1-5-1 SBC) sustained some early momentum with a 1-0 lead in the first half, but it wasn't enough as Little Rock (7-6-2, 2-2-2 SBC) scored three unanswered goals to capture a 3-1 win on Friday evening.
Lindsey Tully scored her first goal of the season at the 24-minute mark in the first half to give App a 1-0 lead. The Mountaineer offense was on the attack with all four of their first-half shots coming in the first 25 minutes of the opening stanza. However, App wouldn't get a shot off in the final 20 minutes of the half while the hosts tied things up just before going into the break, 1-1.Â
Coming out of the second half, the Trojans took a 2-1 lead in the opening minute of the stanza. Goalkeeper Kate Hamilton stopped two more shots at the target in attempt to tie the match from
Sharon Osterbind and
Kelly Flanders. LR would tack on one more goal to take a 3-1 lead moments later.
The Mountaineers tried to get back into the match with multiple shots at the frame but just couldn't get it in the back of the net. Osterbind led the Black and Gold with two shots in the frame, while
Maggie Hanusek, Tully, and Flanders all had shots on goal.
Taylor Ray recorded the start in the net playing all 90 minutes for the Apps.Â
Appalachian will look to even the weekend on Sunday with a 2 p.m. (ET) match at Louisiana.Â
