Johnson City, Tenn. - Appalachian State University men's track and field won three events and placed in the top three for eight on Friday and Saturday as part of ETSU's Buccaneer Invitational inside the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.
In a field that included nearly 60 schools, Chris Anderson won the 5,000 (15:02.75), Evan Georges, Trey Edgerton, Ryan Hastings, and Evan Laratta took first in the distance medley relay (10:17.72) and Phillip Thomas tied for first in the pole vault (16-2.75). For Anderson, that marked just the second event he has competed in this season with the first being the 3,000 at the Kentucky Invitational.
In second place was Nathan Milch in both the shot put (53-11) and weight throw (59-3.50). As far as third-place finishers, those included Stanley Broaden in the 60-meter hurdles (8.21), William Buckley in the 200 (21.84), and John Leonard in the weight throw (59-2). Broaden had also been out of action since Kentucky, largely due to his attendance at the NCAA's Emerging Leaders Seminar in Indianapolis, Ind.
Next up for the Black and Gold is the Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.V. on Feb. 12-13.
