Men's Tennis Captures Third Straight Win
BUIES CREEK, N.C.  -  Appalachian State University men's tennis (5-3) won its third straight match with a convincing 6-1 victory over Campbell (1-5) Saturday afternoon at the Nisbett Tennis Center.

The three-match win streak is the first since the 2013-14 season. Appalachian has outscored its opponents over the past three matches by a combined score of 18-3.

This was another great win for us, said head coach Bob Lake.  “Our singles and doubles play are clicking and I couldn't me more proud of the way we're playing. The front and back end of the lineup are gelling and this is what I expected of them before the season. Zach, Ollie and Scott are playing extremely well in singles play, and I'm looking forward to our next match.”

Appalachian got ball rolling in doubles competition with the tandem of Scott Webster and Jan-Willem Kleynhans won their third consecutive doubles match over Gerard Sola and Dustin Werner, 6-3.

Trey Morris and Zach Bost  captured the doubles point when the No. 3 partners collected fifth win as a tandem against Lorenz Schwab and Nicolas Rakitin, 7-6. App State's top tandem of Oliver Casey  and Jack Maddocks  would go unfinished in their match against Lukas Schaefer and Jonathan O'Neal

Maddocks started singles competition for the Apps defeating Rakitin, 6-3, 6-2, before Morris downed Werner, 6-4,6-2, giving App State a 3-0 lead.Bost won his fourth match in a row and clinched the victory for the Mountaineers with an impressive, 6-4, 6-4 triumph against Louis Monterosso.

Willem-Kleynhans fell to Sola in the No. 4 match, but the two foes went to three sets before Kleynhans suffered the 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 setback. In the No. 2 spot, Casey dealt Lorenz Schwab the 6-3, 6-4 defeat while Webster topped Lukas Schaefer in a come-from-behind victory after dropping the first set and tying the second game to force a third set and picking up the win, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.

Appalachian will return to the court next Saturday at Citadel in Charleston, S.C. at 12 p.m.

- Bost is on four-match win streak and is 5-3 overall this season.

- Casey has won his last three singles matches and is also 5-3 on the season.

- Webster has won three straight with a team-best 5-1 in singles play as the No. 1 in the lineup.
