ORLANDO, FL. – Appalachian State University men's tennis fell to Northern Illinois 5-2 on Monday afternoon after dropping the final three singles matches.
The Mountaineers (4-7) won two of the first three singles matches after Northern Illinois (9-2) picked up a the doubles point, winning 6-4, 6-3. Appalachian got wins from Oliver Casey in the No. 1 match and Scott Webster in No. 3 match.
Casey made quick work of Sigmon Formont, winning 6-3, 6-1. After Jack Maddocks fell in the No. 2 match, Webster defeated Tom Hjertonsson 6-2 in the first set and 7-5 in the second set.
After Webster's victory, Appalachian was defeated in matches at the No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 spots to drop its third-straight match.
The Mountaineers are back in action tomorrow at 2:30 in DeLand, Fla. to take on Stetson University.
