Six Mountaineers Earn All-Conference Honors

NEW ORLEANS – Appalachian State University women's track and field had six student-athletes named to the all-conference team, announced by the league on Wednesday.

"As we completed the Sun Belt indoor championship, we are excited about the athletes that distinguished themselves at a very high level," said head coach John Weaver. "That group for the women was highlighted by Tristin Van Ord who became our first women's Sun Belt champion. We are excited that we had six all-conference performers, which has very vividly shown us what we have to do to be successful. We absolutely believe that as we make this transition and now know what it takes to be successful in the Sun Belt, we can rise to that occasion."

Van Ord was honored following her program and meet record time in the 5,000 meter run. Van Ord set the Sun Belt Conference championship time by finishing in 16:39.75 and becoming the first Mountaineer to be a Sun Belt champion.
