BOONE, N.C. – Scott Webster earned his team-leading 14th singles win of the season and two other players picked up their 10th singles victories of the year as Appalachian State University men's tennis hammered visiting UNCG, 6-1, on Tuesday at the Appalachian Tennis Courts.

The Mountaineers (8-9) snagged the doubles point to earn the early 1-0 lead and clinched the match with Webster's win at No. 3 singles to snap a three-match losing streak to the Spartans (8-8) and improve to 4-1 at home this season.

UNCG looked as if it might have the early edge when it took an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, but Appalachian's No. 3 tandem of Oliver Casey/Trey Morris tied it with an 8-4 win and the No. 2 team of Webster/Jack Maddocks clinched the point with an 8-6 victory.

Casey and Morris improved to 6-3 as a pairing this season while Maddocks and Webster won their fourth-straight doubles contest to improve to a team-best 10-4.

In singles play, Zach Bost scored Appalachian's second point of the day when he earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 4 spot before Morris gave the Mountaineers a commanding 3-0 lead with a straight-set win at No. 6 (6-2, 6-2).

Webster's 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 3 gave App State the match-clinching fourth point as he improved to 14-3 in singles play this year, including a sterling 6-1 mark at the No. 3 spot.

Jan-Willem Kleynhans bounced back from a first-set loss to earn a win at the No. 5 spot (1-6, 6-4, 6-3) before the Spartans snagged their lone point of the day when Connor Thompson topped Maddocks in three sets (7-6, 2-6, 10-7).

Casey finished off singles play with a 7-5, 2-6, 10-7 victory at the No. 1 spot to make the final 6-1. In the process, Casey improved to 10-7 on the season. Morris, who earned the win at No. 6, also moved to 10-7 on the year.

Appalachian State is back in action on Friday when it travels to take on ETSU before playing a neutral site match against Georgia State in Johnson City, Tenn. on Sunday.
