BOONE, N.C. – Zach Bost earned the match-clinching point at No. 4 singles and Appalachian State University men's tennis rolled to a 7-0 win over visiting Georgia Southern on Tuesday afternoon at the Appalachian Tennis Courts.

The Mountaineers (6-8) earned the early advantage by taking the doubles point and topped the Eagles (5-8) for the second year in a row.

Appalachian picked up its first win when the No. 2 tandem of Jack Maddocks/Scott Webster earned an 8-4 win in doubles, but Georgia Southern was able to take an 8-4 win of its own at the No. 1 spot to tie things up.

However, the Mountaineers' No. 3 duo of Oliver Casey/Trey Morris came through in the clutch, earning a hard-fought, 9-7 win to give App State a 1-0 lead after doubles play.

The positive momentum continued when the match moved to singles play. Jan-Willem Kleynhans scored another point for Appalachian State with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 and just moments later, Webster finished off his opponent by a 6-1, 6-4 score at No. 3 to give the Mountaineers a 3-0 lead.

Bost looked as if he would pick up a straight-set win when he snagged a 6-4 victory in the first set at the No. 4 spot, but the Eagles' Christian Kerrigan bounced back with a 6-3 victory in set No. 2 to tie things up. It would not be enough to keep Bost at bay, as he crushed Kerrigan by a 6-2 final in the third set to win (6-4, 3-6, 6-2).

While the victory made the score 4-0 and wrapped up the match, the Mountaineers were not done yet as Morris was winner in three sets at No. 6 (6-2, 2-6, 7-5). Maddocks grabbed a straight-set win at No. 2 (7-6 [7-4], 7-5) and Casey also won in straight sets at No. 1 (7-6, 7-6 [7-5]).

Appalachian State is off for ten days before it heads to Alabama to take on Troy (March 27) and New Orleans (March 28) before closing out the month at home against UNCG (March 31).
