Field Hockey Drops Match on Senior Day

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey dropped a 6-0 decision on Sunday afternoon at Kidd Brewer Stadium against NorPac opponent Liberty.

The Mountaineers celebrated Senior Day on Sunday by recognizing senior forward Emily Knapp and senior goalkeeper Sarah Anderson.

The Flames came out strong in the first half, scoring twice in the first ten minutes with goals from Natalie Barr and Bethany Barr.

The Flames would score once more before halftime off the stick of Sarah Gipe with an assist from Helen Doolittle.

The second half would be no better for the Mountaineers as Liberty scored three minutes in from Erin Dombach into the left side of the goal.

The Flames scored two more times from Hannah Goldsborough and Abby Batdorf with no answer from Appalachian, to make the final score 6-0.

Jordyn Warren tallied a shot for the Mountaineers, while Liberty recorded 29 total shots on the match. App State notched one penalty corner in the match to the Flames' total of nine.

The Mountaineers will return to action next Friday for their last home match of the season against Longwood, slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.
