BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University field hockey dropped a match 4-0 to no. 16 Temple on Friday at Geazey Field.
The Mountaineers were down early as Temple's Alyssa Delp found the net off an assist from Rachel Steinman off a penalty corner.
The Owls scored again from Lauren Hunt off a rebounded goal to make the score 2-0. Temple would score once more before the half off the stick of Erin Vanhorn, scoring off a pass from Amanda Fuertsch.
Temple found a goal once in the second half when Vanhord scored again with an assist from Katie Foran.
Appalachian would not have an answer to the Owls' four straight goals, losing the match 4-0.
Laura Malinoski led the Mountaineers in shots, tallying three on the match. Dana Wetmore found two shots on the afternoon and Hanna French added one.
Goalkeeper Sarah Anderson recorded 15 saves on the match.
Appalachian was outshot 36 to 6 and were awarded five penalty corners to Temple's 12.
The Mountaineers will return to action on Sunday when they take on Penn in Philadelphia, Pa. at 12 p.m.
